The alternative is projectile simulation, where the shot is an actual thing that has speed and travel time. If that line intersects something, that's a hit. Hitscan is when the game simulates a shot as an instant line from the barrel of the gun. You can have hitscan with or without aim assist and magnetism, it's independent. At some point would love to have a weapons dev reverse it as all the designers would prefer it swapped, but it's very very low on priority lol. Magnetism is reticule adhesion/friction and bullet bending is aim assist.
